Cell Phone Use And Drunk Driving :

You hear it all the time. Don't drive and talk with cell phone. It is against the law, but surprisingly there are a lot of people who still driving with cell phone pressing to their ears.

Data from the 2000 U.S. census show that drivers spend an average of twenty five minute each day commuting to work. More and more drivers are trying to make the time they spent in the car more productive.

Is cell phone use and drunk driving equally dangerous? According to the research from the University of Utah, driving with a cell phone is equally dangerous as driving under influence. The study shows that drivers who drive with cell phone are likely to be distracted by their conversation. It does not matter, if you use hands-free or handheld. The study is done under four different conditions: driving with no distraction, driving with handheld cell, driving with hands-free cell, and driving with 0.08 percent blood-alcohol. The study shows that drivers with mobile phones interact more slowly. They drive slower, brake slower and higher chance of crashing.  For instance, drivers are more likely to miss critical traffic signals and vehicle in front of them.

Furthermore, even if the drivers are staring at an object, they often fail to see them. It is almost like they are driving blindly. Drivers with cell phone pressing to their ears often miss stop signs and red rights.
