Americans Tired Of Lawsuit Abuse

Irresponsible and opportunistic lawyers have made the matter worse by encouraging the development of a lawsuit culture.
Frivolous lawsuits against various companies have ruined many American families while selfish and greedy lawyers have prospered at the cost of hard earned money of these families. The cost involved then gets translated into a costlier product, which the common man ultimately pays.
Overcrowding of courts with such trivial lawsuits has caused a sort of havoc in the judiciary system in the sense that valuable time and financial resources are wasted that could otherwise have been spent for genuine lawsuits. Too much lawsuit abuse has also resulted in delayed justice and denying needy people remedies in time.
In a particular case, the lawyers contested that the manufacturer adopted deceptive advertising strategies that led the consumer to believe that a particular brand is healthy and nutritious but the judge held that there is sufficient disclosure of additives and the consumer was well aware of the ingredients and its effects on health. The suit was rejected.
The Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act popularly called the Cheeseburger Bill is a step in right direction. It protects manufacturers and sellers of food products and non-alcoholic beverages from frivolous lawsuits claiming compensation from injuries caused to a person in form of obesity or weight gain by consuming legal, unadulterated food.
Somebody has defined lawsuit abuse as “Short and sweet, we’re talking about legalized extortion”. It is time now for all citizens to stop and oppose lawsuit abuse tooth and nail.
