Privacy Disclosure :

Are your Neighbours Invading Privacy ? Privacy as we know is the right to be left alone without interference from any individual, institution or the government.

Law dictionaries define privacy right as a right to live life free from unwarranted publicity. Privacy is essential to peaceful living and maintaining composure and balance of mind. Life without privacy would be meaningless, something like a hotdog without mustard. Of all, human rights privacy is considered to be the most important, most sought after and the most comprehensive.

High profile individuals always want to keep their personal life out of public reach. They think, leakage of vital secret information about an individual may lead to his being misunderstood, misjudged and victimized. For many people exposure of private affairs may lead to serious security lapse thus endangering their life and property.

The U.S. federal constitution has not mentioned about the right to privacy in very clear terms, but U.S. legal experts held the right to privacy to be implicit in the Bill of Rights providing protection from unnecessary government interference in areas such as marriage and contraception. Invasion of one’s privacy constitutes a tort for which legal remedies are available and according to tort law, privacy is a right not to have one’s private life and affairs exposed to public view.

While all intellectuals have affirmed their belief in strengthening privacy rights, the basis for its constitutional validity remains to be materialized. In the case of Roe versus Wade, the Supreme Court held that the constitution implicitly guarantees protection against activities that invades a citizen’s privacy. Of course there are certain provisions in the U.S. Constitution that protect against unreasonable searches by the government officials.
